Lab Link is designed with a strong commitment to user privacy and data protection. This extension operates exclusively on patient data that is already visible to authorized healthcare professionals in their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and performs no background monitoring.

2. Information We DO NOT Collect

Lab Link does not:

• Store any patient data outside your current browser session
• Transmit any patient data to external servers
• Track your browsing activity or history
• Run in the background when not in use
• Access any information beyond what is visible on your current tab
• Use cookies or any other tracking mechanisms

3. How Lab Link Works

Lab Link operates on a strict on-demand basis:

• The extension only activates when you click its icon
• It temporarily extracts patient name and date of birth from the current EMR screen
• This information exists only in your browser's memory during the current session
• When you close the browser or navigate away, all extracted data is automatically cleared
• The extension uses a service worker background script that shuts down automatically when not in use (Manifest V3)

4. Permissions

Lab Link requires these permissions:

• activeTab: Allows the extension to access the current tab only when you click the extension icon
• tabs: Enables the extension to open new tabs for lab websites
• Specific website access: Allows the extension to interact with lab and diagnostic websites for form filling

5. Security Measures

We implement several security measures:

• All patient data remains within your browser
• Data is never persisted between browser sessions
• The extension code is designed to minimize memory usage and maintain a small footprint
• No remote server connections for patient data

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
